Bridges in Time and Space, a conversation with Vladimir Pozner
Vladimir Vladimirovich Pozner (b. 1934) is one of Russia’s most famous TV personalities on account of his long career as a journalist, TV host, and writer. Since 2008, his weekly interview programme “Pozner” on Channel 1 has been an institution for the country’s public conversation and debate.
Pozner first became known to a wider international audience in 1985, when he and Phil Donahue hosted the US-Soviet Space Bridge, a groundbreaking television collaboration between the two sides during the Cold War in which the ordinary citizens of Leningrad and Seattle were able to talk and debate with each other via a live satellite broadcast.
In Kirkenes, Vladimir Pozner will share his experiences and views on the past, present, and future in a conversation with another East/West border-crosser – director, Barents friend, and expert on Russia, Morten Traavik.
