A Spektakel in the Old Tourist Hotel! The parties, the dancing, the “Beef night” dinners for the shoppers, travelers, tourists, and the locals… Many here in town have memories of the Turisten in Kirkenes, but since the doors closed in 2013, the legendary Tourist Hotel has been all but closed for guests. That is, until now! 

It is an exciting thought, to imagine how the soft wall-to-wall carpets of the Old Tourist Hotel will once again feel the steady footfall of guests, hustling about in the lobby, eager to cast their eyes over one of the best views in town. 

During Barents Spektakel 2022, Pikene på Broen, in collaboration with Rica Eiendom, will “reopen” the doors of the iconic building on the hill and try to breathe new life into the hotel as a cultural venue. During the festival it will welcome some especially unconventional guests, including: an art exhibition, performances, concerts, and a historical archive room, with local history and images in collaboration with Grenselandmuseet – giving new guests a glimpse of the past, and allowing old guests a moment of nostalgia for how things used to be. The programme will also include an art symposium and a cultural conference – not to mention this year’s festival bar – Bar du Nord!
