Barents Spektakel Opening Night: Programme Overview

Welcome to the Barents Spektakel 2022 opening night! In addition to the traditional opening show and fireworks, we have a whole range of opening events not to miss!

Festival opening programme

18.00: Doors to the exhibitions open. Revealing of “The Mother Question Mark” at Gågata, chorus by Crescendo.

18.00 – 20.00; Festival exhibition is open (Terminal B, The Old Tourist hotel, Pumpehuset, Gågata)

18.30: Opening show and fireworks by the church! Speeches by Sør-Varanger mayor Lena Norum Bergeng, greetings from Murmansk by Irina Ivanova (Barents Bird), and speech from The Norwegian Minister of Culture and Equality Anette Trettebergstuen who will mark the official opening.

19.00: Official opening of the festival exhibition at Terminal B, with a digital bridge to the exhibitions in Petrozavodsk and St.Petersburg. Minister of Culture and Equality Anette Trettebergstuen will mark the official opening.

19.30: Official opening of the installation MAKE THE NORTH GREAT AGAIN! on the town square, with speeches, music from a Kirkenes horn orchestra, as well as spontaneous cultural songs and other happenings. The Norwegian The Minister of Foreign Affairs Anniken Huitfeldt will mark the official opening.

22.00 – 01.00: Festival bar Bar du Nord at The Old Tourist Hotel is open!
