Should Northern Norway show solidarity and lay cables to power-crisis-stricken Southern Norway to share the profits from green hydropower – or is it not better that we keep it to ourselves? Talk to Google or Meta about starting a new industry together, or maybe use the power for “trading” and “mining” – how about placing a solid bitcoin mine in an abandoned coastal village and making a musical about how it catastrophically affects the young goat farmer Gloria who lives as the nearest neighbor?
Electron Blue is the song by Viljami Karjalainen, the Finnish electrician who works at the bitcoin mine and who works to find breaks in massive, underground power cables. He sends signals down to earth, listens and calculates, and if he finds electrons that have escaped, he shows no mercy – they will return to the cable!
In Electron Blue we meet both the accordion-playing Viljami and the rebellious electrons.
The film music is composed by Victoria Sergeenko, a collaboration that sprang from the Russian-Norwegian artist collaboration during the Barents Spektakel’s 2022 version.
Electron Blue is arranged and produced Bodø-based Aksel Bakke, with Andrej Stepanov on accordion and Trygve Luktvasslimo himself on vocals.
The feature film The Shadow of the Crypto Mine will premiere during the Festival in Northern Norway in June 2023, where Luktvasslimo is the Festival profile.
